The University of Kansas (KU) Jayhawks won the 2022 National Collegiate Athletic association title game with a historic comeback against the North Carolina Tar Heels. The Tar Heels dominated the first half of the game, outscoring the Jayhawks with a 16–0 run that ended the half at 40–25. However, KU, the top-seeded team entering the tournament, came out stronger in the second half, putting up an aggressive defense that caused the Tar Heels to shoot just 11 for 40.
The Jayhawks outscored the Tar Heels 47 to 29 in the second half, shutting the Tar Heels out entirely in the final 1:46. KU’s comeback was the largest in national championship history, with the record previously held by Loyola, who came back from a 15 point-deficit to beat Cincinnati in the 1963 national championship title game.
